The process of: Life is short

Posted by Fireshadows - August 6th, 2015

Life is short. Your childhood is over in a blink, and you suddenly look back to see where that childhood went. What? Only me who feels like that?

Anyways, being philosophic feels like a good way to kick off this post with.
"Life is short" was the 1 day project that me and ONI wanted to do, which during work was extended to become a 3 days project since ONI gave it all to his art under stress and me wanting to add more features (which obviously weren't included).
Basically, the idea was to quickly test if we could make a dating simulator by creating a scene where the player engages a conversation with a girl. This isn't justifying how the sim turned out to become.
Our main motive during the working process of the simulator was to do something zany and have fun doing it. It showed to be the true motive when i randomly suggested to have the girl exploding to end the scene.
Also, when ONI came up with the words which the girl would say right before exploding. My god, fun times.

So if "Life is short" is supposed to be what it is and not to be taken seriously, then why submit it to Newgrounds? Because i've mentioned in my previous post that i use this account to share my creations. Well, we did submit it and felt good about actually finishing something. We shared it to everyone we knew and had a good laughter.

It was great to have something finished there on Newgrounds (Since my two last Audio submissions are still under progress), but it was even more great that it passed the judgement phase (even if people might think that it deserves not). I'm also glad that people reviews it, whether it's a negative or positive review.
To the people who likes it, we laugh with you!
To the people who dislikes it, we understand why!

I am honestly ok with negative opinions, they point out what people think is bad and where there could be room for improvement. The most frequent opinion people have on "Life is short" is that it is too short (which the title might suggest). I know! ONI know!
As a matter of fact, we do plan to once return to this and make something much more of it. That is because we got several ideas in the making of this (but we saved them for the time when we return with more experience) and we do actually think it's unfair to have this good-looking (expect nothing less from ONI) piece of "game" last for so short time.

Also! We couldn't have achieved the right and wanted mood without Saberwyngs and Aleksandr12s romantic loops. Special thanks to you. Your music rock!

Now, i am going to move on through life and live my dreams. Because life is short.

TL, DR; "Life is short" was a 1 day project to test if we could do some of the basics a dating sim, by creating a scene.
Having fun motivated us to finish the game.
Feels good having something finished (while it does't appear to be finished) on Newgrounds, which doesn't need to get updated, a step in the right direction for my submitting style.
We are ok with whatever people think about "Life is short", because we understand why.

Wicked ideas were included and the more plausible ideas were stored for an eventual remake.
Special thanks to Saberwyng and Aleksandr12.
Began and ended with cliché philosophy.
